Modular Delivery & Rigging

Factory-tested modules are transported, received, and rigged into place in a sequence that keeps high-risk work off the critical path.

Aegis modules — plug assemblies, central-cell sections, the DEC end, cryoplant skids, and power skids — are built and tested in a controlled factory environment, then shipped to site. Rigging is the choreography of receiving, staging, lifting, and setting these units against survey marks.

Transport envelope

The heaviest and largest modules — the high-field plug coil assemblies — define the transport envelope. Route surveys confirm road or rail clearances, bridge ratings, and turning radii before manufacture is released, so a module cannot be built to a size the corridor cannot carry.

Vacuum-facing surfaces and cryogenic joints are protected during handling. Modules arrive sealed; internal exposure is minimized and performed under cleanliness control to protect ultimate vacuum quality. Factory acceptance data travels with each module so field teams verify condition on receipt rather than re-testing from scratch.

Because installation is planned from the frozen design, rigging studies use the actual coil masses and geometries of the tandem-mirror configuration; nothing here is built yet, so these are the load cases the design is verified against.
