Electrical Balance of Plant

Electrical BOP manages house load, the conditioned power output, emergency supplies, and protection across the installation.

Electrical balance of plant is the distribution, switching, and protection that ties the machine, its auxiliaries, and its output together. It supplies house load to run the plant, routes the conditioned DEC output to delivery, and provides emergency power to safety systems when normal supply is lost.

House load

The cryoplant, vacuum pumps, cooling systems, controls, and instrumentation draw continuous power to keep the machine in a safe state whether or not it is producing. House load must be available before startup and maintained through shutdown, which is why the electrical design supports islanded and blackstart operation.

Distribution and protection

Emergency and backup

Safety-relevant loads — cryogenic protection, shield cooling, controls, and monitoring — are backed by emergency power so that loss of normal supply does not compromise the safe state. Battery-backed uninterruptible supplies bridge the transfer to standby generation. The design follows the frozen machine at design stage and is not yet built.
