The Honesty Charter

A short statement of the honesty and transparency commitments Kronos holds itself to — the standard every page in this section is meant to meet.

What we commit to

This section describes many rules; they reduce to a few commitments. Kronos states them plainly so a reader knows the standard to hold us to — and so we are on record if we fall short.

The commitments

• We label every number by its evidence: simulated, projected, or measured
• We make no hardware net-gain claim before the first machine is built and measured
• We use one frozen set of design values everywhere, and version any change
• We publish our data and code so anyone can check the work
• We name our open gates and what would prove each claim wrong
• We correct mistakes in public, in the place they were published
• We compare fairly, credit rivals, and grade ourselves on the same ruler
• We say low-neutron, not aneutronic; scientific gain, not net gain; goal, not result
• We keep economics out of this record entirely
• We avoid hype — no breakthrough language, no unlimited-energy framing, no filler

Why write it down

A commitment that is not written down is not a commitment; it is a mood. Putting the standard in public converts our intentions into obligations a reader can enforce. If a Kronos statement anywhere violates one of these, it is an error to be corrected — and this charter is the yardstick to catch it.

We would rather be judged against a high standard we sometimes miss than a low one we always clear. This is the standard.
