The Honest Gates

An honest gate is the line between what Kronos has solved on paper and what only hardware can prove — and we say which side each claim lives on.

What an honest gate is

Kronos designs its machines digitally before building them. That produces two very different kinds of statement: results that follow from physics models we can publish and reproduce, and results that only real hardware can settle. An honest gate is the explicit boundary between the two. Every quantitative claim we make is labelled by which side of the gate it sits on.

Why we draw the line in public

A simulated design point and a measurement are not the same evidence, even when they carry the same units. Blurring them is the most common way fusion communication misleads — often without intending to. By naming the gate, a reader can immediately tell a computed target from an achieved value, and hold us to the right standard for each.

The gates are falsifiable

Each gate is tied to a concrete future observation: first tritium from the first-of-a-kind (FOAK) breeder (Hyperion) around 2030, plasma current reaching its design value, breeding ratio measured in a real blanket. When hardware data arrive, the claim on the paper side is either confirmed, corrected, or retired. The gate is not rhetoric; it is a standing bet against reality.
