Reliable energy is not a luxury layered on top of a good life; it is the substrate that makes most of a good life possible.

Why energy sits underneath everything

Almost every human need above bare survival is met more easily with energy: clean water pumped and treated, food refrigerated, homes warmed and cooled, clinics lit and equipped, information moved. When energy is scarce or unreliable, each of these becomes harder and more expensive in time and labor. When it is abundant and clean, they become ordinary. That is why Kronos frames its work as building for people, not only for a grid.

This is a claim about direction, not a promise of arrival. Both Kronos machines are today design and simulation studies. The breeder (Hyperion) and the burner (Aegis / MetroVolt) have not demonstrated hardware net gain, and we make no such claim before first-of-a-kind (FOAK) operation, targeted for first tritium around 2030 with construction beginning Q2 2027.

Access compounds

None of these effects is unique to fusion. They follow from any clean, firm, affordable-to-operate source. Fusion is one candidate among several — advanced fission, geothermal, renewables plus storage — and we hold that view plainly.
