Building firm capacity from modular units matches supply to load, enables redundancy, and supports phased near-demand deployment.

Why modular

A modular design builds capacity from repeated units rather than one large plant. For grid and cities this brings several advantages: capacity can be added in increments that track demand growth, units provide the redundancy that firmness requires, and manufacturing repeated units builds experience that improves reliability over time.

The burner (MetroVolt) is conceived as modular units. A campus or a load pocket receives the number of units its load and reliability target require, with at least one spare for N-1. This is the same logic data centers apply to their own equipment, extended to generation.

From two to many

Reaching fleet scale is a manufacturing and supply-chain problem as much as a physics one. The design path runs from a first test unit around 2032 to commercial units around 2036 and onward to fleets, with reliability improving as units accumulate.

Honest framing

Fleet firmness depends on both building many units and fuelling them. The helium-3 supply gate, roughly 400 times domestic supply per commercial unit, means fleet scale is contingent on breeder-bred and lunar He-3. Modularity is a design strength; fuel is the constraint on how far it can scale.
