How the pieces reinforce each other
The individual practices in this section — papers, deposits, licenses, pipelines, gates — are not a checklist. They form a loop in which each step feeds the next. Publishing openly invites reproduction; reproduction and review build credibility; credibility draws collaboration and harder scrutiny; scrutiny sharpens the design and its honest gates; the improved design becomes the next publication. This is the open-science flywheel.
Reading the loop
- Publish: designs, data, and code go out under open licenses with permanent DOIs.
- Reproduce: independent readers rerun the pipelines cold and check the results; see independent reproduction.
- Credibility: reproduced, peer-reviewed results earn trust and invite collaboration; see peer review first.
- Scrutinize: outside eyes find errors and pressure-test the gates; see the honest gates.
- Improve: the design point and its honest gates get sharper, and the next publication is stronger.
Why it is a flywheel, not a line
A one-time disclosure is a press event; a flywheel is a habit that compounds. Each turn lowers the cost of the next: reusable pipelines, a frozen canon, and clean metadata mean the next publication starts from a stronger base. The momentum is the point — credibility built this way accumulates rather than resets.
Where it is heading
The flywheel is spinning during the design-and-simulation stage and is meant to keep spinning through construction, which begins in Q2 2027, and first-of-a-kind first tritium around 2030 — when reproduction is joined by measurement. That is when the pre-registered predictions meet hardware.
Openness is not a single act here. It is a wheel we keep turning, and every turn is meant to leave the record more trustworthy than before.
