Vision, not specification. This page describes a future that fusion could help make possible — not a product promise, forecast, or performance claim. The Kronos machines today are design and simulation studies: the breeder (Hyperion) and the burner (Aegis / MetroVolt). No hardware net-gain has been demonstrated; construction of the first breeder is planned to begin in Q2 2027, with first-of-a-kind first tritium targeted around 2030.
Why hold a vision at all
Engineering is disciplined by numbers, but it is aimed by a picture of the world it is trying to reach. Kronos keeps its technical work honest and its ambition explicit, and refuses to blur the line between the two. This page, and the pages linked from it, are the explicit picture. Everything here is labeled as vision so it is never mistaken for a specification.
The picture is simple to state. Human civilization keeps advancing — more computation, more medicine, more mobility, more people living well — while the atmosphere, the oceans, the forests, and the wild places recover rather than degrade. Historically those two goals have pulled against each other, because progress was paid for by burning things. Abundant clean energy is the hinge that lets both move in the same direction.
What has to be true
A vision is only worth stating if it names its conditions. For this one, clean energy has to become both abundant and firm — available at scale, and available on demand rather than only when the wind blows. It has to complement renewables instead of competing with them. And it has to arrive without a large new environmental burden of its own: no meltdown risk, little long-lived waste, minimal water, a small land footprint, and fuel that does not require mining.

This section extends that case forward in time and asks: if the properties hold, what world do they make available? Read the pages that follow as a set of if-then statements, not as guarantees.
