Vision, not specification. This page describes a future that fusion could help make possible — not a product promise, forecast, or performance claim. The Kronos machines today are design and simulation studies: the breeder (Hyperion) and the burner (Aegis / MetroVolt). No hardware net-gain has been demonstrated; construction of the first breeder is planned to begin in Q2 2027, with first-of-a-kind first tritium targeted around 2030.
Repair is work, and work needs energy
Letting nature recover on its own is slow and, in degraded landscapes, sometimes impossible. Active restoration — replanting forests, rewetting drained peatlands, rebuilding soils, removing invasive species, restoring rivers — is real physical work that takes machinery, water, and logistics, all of which take energy. On a scarce or dirty energy budget, restoration competes with everything else and usually loses.
With abundant clean energy, restoration stops being a luxury. The same firm clean power that runs cities can run the pumps, vehicles, nurseries, and desalination that large-scale ecological repair depends on. The vision treats a recovering biosphere not as passive hope but as an active project that clean energy underwrites.

Kronos’s claim is bounded: abundant clean energy makes large-scale repair affordable in energy terms, turning a hard constraint into a solvable one.
