Navigating the 3D Model
Orbit, pan, zoom, and framing controls, plus the keyboard and touch shortcuts that make the model quick to explore.
Camera controls
The camera orbits a target point rather than the world origin, so whichever component you select becomes the natural center of rotation. This keeps small parts, like a single divertor cassette, from swinging out of frame while you inspect them.
Pointer and touch
- Left drag orbits around the current target.
- Right drag or two-finger drag pans the target across the scene.
- Scroll or pinch zooms toward the cursor, not the screen center.
- Double-click a part to fly the camera to a framed view of it.
Framing presets
Preset views snap the camera to standard engineering angles: a three-quarter hero view, a true elevation, a plan view down the vertical axis, and an on-axis view along the machine centerline. For the burner the on-axis preset looks straight down the mirror axis through both plug throats, which is the fastest way to read the concentric coil structure.
Depth and clipping
A near clipping control lets you push the view plane into the machine without switching to a full cutaway, useful for peeking behind the toroidal-field coils on Hyperion or between mirror coils on the burner. The far plane is fixed to the full machine envelope so you never lose global context.
Performance modes
The model offers a lightweight geometry mode for slower devices, which decimates fine mesh detail while preserving every selectable component and every measurement. The physics callouts are identical in both modes, because they read from the design record rather than from the mesh.
