Every component in the model connects to an explanatory page here, so geometry and explanation form one reference.
Two halves of one reference
The 3D model and this library are designed to work as a single reference. The model shows where a component sits and what it measures; the library explains what it does and why it is built that way. Because the components carry stable names, the two connect directly: a part in the model links to its page here, and a page here can highlight its part in the model.
How the link works
- Selecting a component in the model offers its explanatory page in this library.
- A page here can point the model at the component it describes and highlight it.
- Both use the same component names, so there is no ambiguity about which part is meant.
- Both draw physics values from the same frozen canon, so the numbers match.
Why keep them separate but linked
Geometry and prose are best at different things. A 3D view conveys spatial relationships and scale instantly; written explanation conveys mechanism, purpose, and trade-offs. Rather than cram explanation into cramped model callouts or force a written page to describe a shape in words, each does what it is good at and hands off to the other.
The result
A reader can move fluidly between seeing and understanding: notice the thick blanket in the cutaway, jump to its page to learn why it breeds tritium at a ratio of 1.8, then return to the model to measure its thickness. Neither half is complete alone; together they are a full engineering reference for two unbuilt machines.
