Isolating and Hiding Components

Isolate a single part or hide obscuring shells to inspect any component of either machine without clutter.

Seeing one thing clearly

A machine of nested shells and stacked coils hides most of itself from any single viewpoint. Two complementary controls solve this: isolating a component to show only it, and hiding components that block the view of something behind them. Together they let you inspect any part without the clutter of everything around it.

Hide

Hiding works the other way: instead of keeping one part, you remove specific parts that are in the way. Hiding the cryostat exposes the magnets; hiding the outboard blanket exposes the first wall and plasma. Hidden parts are tracked so you can restore them, which prevents losing your place in a complex teardown.

Combining with cutaway

Hiding and the section plane complement each other. A cutaway removes half the machine along a plane; hiding removes chosen components regardless of where the plane is. Using both, you can, for example, cut Hyperion in the poloidal plane and then hide the shield to see the blanket and vessel relationship on the cut face directly.

Getting back

A restore control brings hidden parts back and clears any isolation, returning to the full assembly. See Navigating the Model for the camera controls and Cutaway Views for the section plane.
