Standards for connecting to grids and microgrids let the burner deliver power to an installation predictably.
Power has to plug in somewhere
A generator that provides power to a base or data center must interconnect with the local electrical system — a grid, a microgrid, or an islanded installation network. Interconnection and interoperability standards (such as IEEE 1547 for distributed resources and microgrid standards) define voltage, frequency, protection, and behavior during disturbances.
What these standards govern
- Voltage and frequency ranges the source must hold and ride through.
- Protection coordination so faults are cleared without cascading.
- Behavior during disturbances, including islanding and reconnection.
- Communication and control interfaces for dispatch and monitoring.
Why it matters for resilient power
The burner's defense value is resilient sovereign power on a fixed installation, which often means operating within a microgrid that can island from any external grid. Standards-based interconnection is what lets the generator integrate predictably with existing site infrastructure and other sources rather than requiring a bespoke electrical design at every site. This is a burner-side readiness item that follows the plug-density gate: interconnection matters only once the machine can produce net power, which remains gated.
