Export-Control Framework

Fusion technology intersects export-control regimes; Kronos designs its disclosures to respect them by default.

Some knowledge is controlled for good reason

Fusion research produces knowledge, materials, and equipment that can fall under export-control regimes — in the United States, the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and, for defense articles, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), with parallels in other jurisdictions. These regimes govern what technical data and hardware may be shared, with whom, and under what authorization.

How Kronos handles it

Why publish anything at all

Kronos publishes a public physics basis because credibility depends on scrutiny, and because most of the fusion physics that closes its designs is already in the open literature. What is controlled is the specific, sensitive detail — and that stays out of public channels. This library is, by design, on the public side of the firewall: it explains what the machines are and how ready they are, without disclosing anything that export control would restrict.

Export-control readiness is part of responsible dual-use posture: getting the disclosure boundary right is a precondition for any defense engagement.
