Dispatchability, Qualitatively
Dispatchability is the ability to deliver power when it is asked for; the burner is firm and controllable in principle, but its dispatch value is bounded by the availability gate.
Power on demand, with limits
A dispatchable source can be called on to produce power at a chosen time. Intermittent sources are non-dispatchable — you take their energy when the weather gives it. The burner, when running, is controllable and firm, so in principle it is dispatchable base capacity. In practice its dispatch value is limited by how reliably it can be called on, which returns to the availability gate.
Dispatchability here is best described as a chain rather than a single source. When power is called for, the burner supplies it if it is up; if it has tripped, the battery answers instantly; if the burner is in a longer outage, the grid imports. The campus is highly dispatchable even though the burner alone is only 0.86-0.995 available.
This site avoids any economic framing of dispatch — no market claims — and describes it only physically: the ability to meet a firm, continuous call for power. The burner improves the base of that capability by being weather-independent and steady, while the flexible layers guarantee the call is met during its outages.
The qualitative bottom line: the burner is a controllable, firm base contributor to a dispatchable campus, not a dispatchable guarantee on its own.
