Isotope Offtake Overview
Hyperion's products are offered as offtake: tritium as fusion feedstock, helium-3 for quantum and detection, and 14 MeV neutron services.
The foundry as a supplier
Because Hyperion is sized to a supply requirement rather than a power rating, its outputs are treated as offtake: material and services delivered to identified users. The three streams — tritium, helium-3, and 14 MeV neutron flux — serve different customers and follow different delivery and qualification paths.
The three offtake streams
- Tritium: feedstock for D–T fusion programs, neutron targets, and internal fleet startup
- Helium-3: dilution-refrigeration and detector customers in quantum computing, cryogenics, and security
- 14 MeV neutrons: irradiation and activation services for materials qualification and research
Each stream is coupled to the same neutron budget, so offtake planning is inseparable from the breeding trade. Tritium and helium-3 are physical shipments requiring accountancy, containment, and radiopurity certification; neutron services are delivered in-machine as irradiation positions and campaigns.
What offtake does not include here
This overview describes what is supplied and to whom, in physical and strategic terms. Consistent with Kronos policy, it makes no statement about commercial terms of any kind. Offtake here means the material and service streams themselves — their nature, users, and dependencies.
Contingent on the gates
All offtake volumes depend on the breeding and self-sufficiency gates. The tritium and helium-3 figures are design targets contingent on net TBR at the 1.8 point; neutron-service capacity depends on how the budget is allocated. These are design-and-simulation commitments until FOAK demonstrates production.
This page describes a design-and-simulation study, not a built machine. Construction begins Q2 2027; first-of-a-kind (FOAK) first tritium is targeted near 2030. No net-gain claim is made before FOAK.
