Real-Time State Estimation

Real-time state estimation fuses many noisy diagnostics into one best picture of the plasma, fast enough for Kronos's control system to act within its latency budget.

The concept

No single sensor sees the whole plasma; an estimator combines magnetics, interferometry, and other diagnostics with a model to reconstruct fields, profiles, and boundary shape continuously - the observer that closes the loop.

How Kronos uses it

For the BREEDER (Hyperion), fast robust reconstruction underpins shape and equilibrium control at 9.66 MA; learned estimators run inside a certified safe envelope so speed never overrides safety.

Estimator performance is validated in simulation now and against hardware after first tritium.
