The 81-Analysis Reproducible Record
A structured record of independent analyses, each reproducible from inputs to result, forms the evidence base behind the Kronos design.
What the record is
Rather than a single monolithic claim, the Kronos case is built from many separate analyses, each addressing one question: an equilibrium, a breeding calculation, a heat-flux estimate, a materials study. Each is documented so it can be reproduced from its inputs. Together they form a record that can be examined piece by piece.
Why structure it this way
- A modular record lets a reviewer check one analysis without accepting all of them.
- Errors are localized to a single analysis rather than contaminating everything.
- New analyses extend the record without rewriting it.
- Each piece carries its own assumptions, data, and uncertainty.
Reproducibility built in
Every analysis in the record is pinned to specific code, inputs, and an environment, following the reproducibility runbooks. Re-running it should reproduce the result, and automated verification checks that it still does as the codebase evolves.
Supporting the design point
The analyses collectively support the closed Hyperion design point: Q 3.424, 88.7 MW, 9.86 MA, 16.84 T peak, negative triangularity -0.30, and TBR 1.8. Each number traces back to one or more analyses in the record.
Honest open items
The record also holds the open reconciliations, such as the treatment of local versus net tritium breeding, rather than papering over them. A live record shows what is settled and what is not.
Credibility
This record is the concrete form of reproducible science as credibility: not a claim to be trusted, but a body of work to be checked.
