Radiological & Tritium Standards
The regulations governing radiological protection and tritium handling.

- Radiological & tritium
Radiological-protection regulations and tritium-handling standards govern dose limits, containment and accountancy for the breeder's tritium. Their fusion-class applicability is under review as regulators develop fusion-specific frameworks.
Tritium handling is one of the breeder's named licensing-relevant gates.
Common questions
What governs tritium handling?
Radiological and tritium-specific standards set the containment, monitoring and accounting requirements. They apply mainly to the breeder, whose fuel cycle runs at ~4.0 kg/yr/yr of tritium.
Is the burner subject to them?
Far less — being low-neutron D–³He (5.44%), it handles little tritium, so radiological requirements fall overwhelmingly on the breeder.
