The central cell is the burner's long, uniform-field core where the bulk of D–³He fusion occurs, running 55 m to 1400 m depending on the product. It is the simplest, most repeatable part of the machine — the reason the burner scales by length.
Plugs and expanders cap it at each end.

Why is length the main product variable?
Because gain and neutron fraction are set by local plasma physics, not machine size, so extending the central cell scales net power while the physics per metre stays the same.
