Power Ascension

Climbing in steps from first plasma toward the design operating point.

Operations & CommissioningUpdated 2026-08-11
Path
Stepwise to design point

After first plasma, operation ramps up in stages — more heating, higher density and temperature — toward the frozen design point (breeder Q = 3.076). Each step checks stability and component loads before the next. It is a deliberate climb, not a leap.

Performance is demonstrated, not assumed, along this ascent.

Common questions

What is power ascension?

A stepwise campaign that climbs from first plasma toward the design point, demonstrating performance at each level rather than assuming the full operating point from the start.

Why ascend in steps?

Because it lets performance be proven and problems caught gradually — the honest way to reach a design point, and how Kronos frames the road after first plasma.
