High-Recycling Divertor

A dense, cool divertor regime that precedes detachment.

In the high-recycling regime the divertor plasma becomes dense and cool as recycled neutrals ionise near the target, radiating heat and setting the stage for detachment. It is a normal operating regime for the divertor.
