Gamma Heating

Heat deposited by gamma rays from neutron reactions.

Beyond neutrons, the gamma rays produced when neutrons are captured deposit heat throughout the machine, including in the magnets. Gamma heating is part of the nuclear heating the cooling and shield must handle.
