Engineering Breakeven

A plant producing as much electricity as the whole facility consumes.

Glossary of Fusion & Plasma TermsUpdated 2026-08-11

Engineering breakeven counts net electricity against total plant consumption — the commercially meaningful bar, well beyond scientific breakeven. Kronos reports plant-level gain (burner QE = 1.31) separately from plasma Q for exactly this reason.
