Beam Shine-Through

Beam power that passes through the plasma without depositing.

Glossary of Fusion & Plasma TermsUpdated 2026-08-11

If the plasma is too thin, some neutral-beam power passes straight through ('shine-through') and strikes the far wall instead of heating the plasma. Density and beam energy are matched to minimise it.
