Water scarcity is intensifying, and the main tools against it — seawater desalination and advanced wastewater treatment and reuse — are energy-intensive. Reliable, affordable, clean energy is the enabler, and intermittent supply makes these continuous processes expensive to run.

Firm fusion power is well matched. A Kronos MetroVolt plant provides the firm, around-the-clock electricity (and usable heat) that desalination and treatment need, while itself being thermally light — consuming little cooling water, an obvious virtue where water is the scarce resource.
